ABSOLUT PARKER/STONE is in the 7/6-20/00 issue of Rolling Stone magazine (page 71); it is very similar to the photo on page 77 of the 7/00 issue of Vanity Fair mag, which was part of the Absolut 20th Anniversary Collection. Since this single ad does not have a traditional logo near the bottom of the page, I've listed it (as Absolut Tyler did) under the name of the person/people featured in the ad.
TREY PARKER, 30, and MATT STONE, 29, are the creators of the animated TV series South Park. Here they are photographed absolutely naked, wearing only black socks. Their modesty is protected by strategically holding copies of their favorite. Perhaps alluding to a scene from their film BASEketball, Parker is holding a huge poster of the ad, while Stone has a much smaller version of the ABSOLUT CENTERFOLD ad.
This ad does have 4 differences from the original: it lists the people by name, it lists their fave ad, it states that this is "One in a series of 20 portraits celebrating ABSOLUT VODKA's 20th anniversary.", and it has the typical info printed up the right margin (including ©2000 and photograph by Annie Leibovitz).
This is the first ad in the ABSOLUT 20th ANNIVERSARY Series. |
