| ABSOLUT SCHMID+EKECS is a new ad on page 69 of the 6/99 issue of Wired mag. This 1999 ad, with artwork by Daniela Schmid and Gabor Ekecs, looks likes an old photograph of a drugstore window. However, the window glass that we're peering through is actually the close-up of the front of an Absolut Vodka bottle, with some of the lettering visable. Through the brownish hue of the glass, we can just make out an Absolut bottle on a table. The artists are listed as contributing photographers to Wired magazine; under the logo, it says: This advertisement by and for Wired magazine. Daniela Schmid and Gabor Ekecs of Schmid/Ekecs Photography of Los Angeles, California, won a Photo Design Award from PDN in 1997. Celebrating the combination of great photography and design in commercial work and self-promotion, Photo District News magazine honored them with the Gold Corporate Award for Local Color in 1997. Their work has been seen in many magazines, including Avenues, National Geographic and Wired. |
